Why, why, why, have Dizzy, one of the best and most popular characters in the franchise, as an overpriced DLC character!?Īlso, Baiken available only in Story Mode? Not cool, bro… It looks and plays surprisingly good, but anyone coming from the previous instalment will soon realise that this feels like an expansion, not a sequel. It's, without a single doubt, a great fighter… but, few will find the price tag that comes along with it to be fair. …And this is the main "flaw" of Revelator. What this point is getting at is that when it comes to the actual gameplay, don't expect anything different than other games in the genre, and especially Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign. In other words, it's not exactly "content" as it is… extra goodies. Now, like all Arc System Works'… works, this is filled to the brim with content, but mainly in terms of A: things to learn/read, and B: things to unlock, whether that's pictures, additional character colours, and so on. Even if you have, however, this mode requires no interaction, as it's just an array of glued together cut-scenes well-designed, high-quality cut-scenes, but nothing more than that. While the vast in-game library can be very helpful, the storyline is an incomprehensible mess that's hard to judge unless you've "been" here from day one. The story mode is another example of how… niche Guilty Gear's plot is. Instead of a roster of boys and girls that have some slight differences, each one is a completely unique beast, which makes it quite hard to pick favourites as soon as you would in any other fighter.
It's a series that, while it can certainly be enjoyed by newbies, is mainly hardcore material. Guilty Gear is one of those franchises that isn't exactly the most beginner friendly, despite all of its newer iterations (including this one) having a fantastic tutorial mode.
